chickens in winter

chickens need extra food in the winter, and care that their water doesn't freeze over
our leghorns abuse the brown hens, some of whom are pretty cold with just a few feathers
this one's looking pretty comfy

this chicken is actually dead, so, yes, she is probably perfectly comfortable...
our coldest night was her end
she was on old bird
the two eggs she was sitting on did not freeze [tear]
